Project Overview
EV Pluggy is a smart EV charging station locator and booking platform that helps electric vehicle owners find nearby charging points, check real-time availability, and reserve slots instantly. The platform connects EV drivers with charging station operators through a seamless backend infrastructure. It supports multiple payment methods, live status updates, and location-based search to make EV charging convenient and hassle-free.
We started by analyzing EV driver behavior, peak charging hours, and station density across cities. We studied existing platforms and identified gaps in real-time availability, booking accuracy, and user experience. Our research helped us define clear API requirements and backend flows.
We built a modular backend with microservices for station management, booking, payments, and user profiles. WebSocket connections were implemented for live status updates. APIs were designed to be RESTful and well-documented for seamless integration with mobile and web apps.
Rigorous testing was conducted to ensure performance under load, data accuracy, and security. The system was deployed on scalable cloud infrastructure with monitoring and logging in place. Post-launch, we optimized API response times and added analytics for station operators.
Our Station Locator API helps users find nearby EV charging stations with real-time availability, distance, and filter options. It supports geolocation-based search and dynamic updates for accurate results. The Real-Time Booking Engine allows users to reserve charging slots instantly with WebSocket-based live updates, ensuring availability and confirmations are always current.
Secure payment integration is handled through our Payment & Billing API, supporting credit cards, digital wallets, and subscription plans. It manages invoices, transaction history, and recurring billing for both users and operators. User & Operator Management provides role-based access for drivers, station owners, and admins, ensuring secure and organized platform operations. Analytics & Reporting delivers station usage data, revenue trends, and peak booking hours, helping operators make informed decisions. Our Notification Service sends real-time alerts for booking confirmations, reminders, and station updates via email, SMS, and in-app notifications, keeping all users informed and engaged.
